Spencer's Gorge Conservation Area

Having finished all the "main" Conservation Areas in the Halton Region, we decided to check out the Hamilton Conservation Area Parks. First stop - Spencer's Gorge! Here I am at Tews Falls, the first of two waterfalls in the park. Unfortunately there wasn't much water running over the falls, but the gorge was still a sight!
From Tews Falls, we hiked up to Dundas Peak for a nice view!
Matthew still loves being in the pack with Dad and checking out all the trees. Here they are playing peek-a-boo!
After hiking back down from Dundas Peak, we hiked along the other side of the park to Webster's Falls - the highlight of our hike!
To get to the bottom of the falls we had to come down a ton of very steep steps, but it was worth it!

After climbing back up all those steep steps and hiking over 4km, we decided that Chad would quickly jog back to the first parking lot (<1km) and get the car while Matthew and I had a drink break.

Afternoon Swim

It was a beautiful day today, so Matthew and Dad decided to go for a dip in the pool.
Here he is sporting his new lifejacket. It wasn't such a big hit while in the pool, so we took it off for a quick swim.
After a few dips, Matthew was ready to take the plunge! He would swim to the steps, walk to me, then ask for Daddy to take him in again :-)
To shore Dad!

Big Boy!!

We really want Matthew to be well settled in a big boy bed before Baby Girl arrives so that we don't need two cribs. So after finally finding a used toddler bed last week, and buying lion king stuff on ebay, we decided to try Matthew in his new big boy room. It wasn't seemless, but all in all, was quite smooth and he slept in his bed all night until 7 am. We are so proud of our little man!!
Close up of the bed...when he gets up he says bye to "roar" on the bed and on the walls - too cute!
Here he is sleeping soundly

Bubbles!!

Matthew just loves bubbles. Now, every night at tub time we blow bubbles and he tries to catch them all - he has lots of fun!!

Sick Boy...

Matthew came home from daycare on Thursday with an ear infection. He was pretty pitiful for 2 days...sleepy and cuddly, and a fever that wouldn't quit. It was a very similar experience to the ear infection he had at xmas.
So we did lots of snuggling and watched "roar" for 2 days until Matthew was back to his old self.
I've been looking for a tool set for Matthew and Friday night I finally found one. Saturday morning he was full of energy and the tool set was a big hit!!
On Sunday Matthew enjoyed helping uncle Paul pick out some tunes on the computer.

African Lion Safari

Today we went to the African Lion Safari where you could drive around in the safety of your car, while the safari animals roamed free. It was very cool and Matthew loved seeing the animals. The lions were especially impressive!
More lions Ah Dad, better watch out for that baboon over there. The baby baboon peeking around his mom was so cute!!

Gazelles!
This way Dad...there's the exit
Besides the safari drive, there were lots of shows and other animal exhibits. Here we are at the elephant swim!

Watching the elephants swim was very cool!

Who says lions and little boys can't be friends...Matthew is giving "roar" a big hug.

Don't forget to love the tigger too!

There was even a toddler playground where Matthew enjoyed the slide.

Matthew loved feeding the deer at the petting zoo.

We couldn't believe when the elephant walked over the trainers at the elephant round up.

Posing with Grammie and Grampy...time to go back to the car - what a great day!

Airport Fun

We didn't take many pictures during our super short trip to NS, but we had a great trip home. We went to a wedding, a baby shower, dinners with great-grandparents, and lots of playtime with uncle Sean and aunt Cathy and grandparents. Here's Matthew getting ready for the airport wearing his new fireman rubbers from Grampy. He loves his boots!
Sitting at the airport with Dad...Matthew loved playing and running around the airport.

Toddler Playground

Chad normally does daycare pick-ups, but when he was away at the end of April, I got to finally see Matthew on the toddler playground - he was very happy to see me!
