Bronte Creek

This morning we all got up early (except for sleepy uncle Paul) and went to our first Ontario Provincial Park - Bronte Creek. It has an off-leash area and this was Riley's first real chance to run like mad since we arrived - he was sooo excited to be let out of the car. He ran around and found the biggest possible stick! It will be a great park in the summer, it has a 1+ acre swimming pool!!

Chad was specifically instructed not to climb a tower; however, I couldn't resist taking a picture :-)

And So It Begins...

Yesterday we had a big day. We actually picked up and fed ourself (and even ate) three cheerios! Matthew has previously eaten cheerios, even picked them up and brought them towards his mouth, but had never had a successful deposit until today. It took a few tries though...Matty three cheerios, Riley six!

Matty and Teddy

Matty loves his teddy bear - he sleeps and naps with Teddy everyday!
I put Matthew to bed and handed him Teddy...he hugged him tight and closed his eyes. Meanwhile I raced downstairs to get the camera in hopes of catching the teddy snuggle, but I was too late. He was already down for the count!!

Introducing the New National Sales and Marketing Manager for Black Water Designs

Yesterday we all went to see where Dad spends his days. I got to meet everyone he works with (they thought I was very cute) and even got to sit in Dad's chair - that was pretty cool! The only thing his office needs is some pictures of me, but Mom will take care of that!

When Mom and Dad are Away...Grandparents Come to Play!

This weekend while Chad and I were in Vancouver, Grammie and Grampy Smith came to visit Matthew and Riley! Matthew had so much fun with his grandparents - they played and played, went for lots of stroller rides, and shared a ton of cuddles! Riley is pooped and currently passed out on the floor - he is exhausted after taking Grampy for so many walks. Matty and Riley are two lucky boys!

Vancouver Get-A-Way!

The view from our hotel room, overlooking the city - what a view!
Our first tourist stop was the aquarium. We saw sharks, dolphins, belugas, lots of fish, an anaconda, alligators, and this gigantor sea lion!

A must do was to dip my toes in the water on the west coast. Chad just dipped his sneaker - what a whimp!

Capilano Suspension Bridge - located very high above a river just outside of the city. I was very nervous about my ability to cross the bridge without having to turn back...but I did it! This is a great spot to go - even though it was raining the whole time we were there, we really enjoyed it!

It was no sweat for Chad to cross the bridge :-)

I, on the other hand, crossed much more slowly and carefully - esp on the way over. On the way back, I was much more relaxed having survived the tree tops adventure (below).

The treetops adventure is a series of bridges going from tree to tree - way up in the air!

In the tree tops! This was a huge douglas fir!

Me with the totem poles.

One little indian is different than the rest...can you tell which one?

On to Grouse Mountain! This is the view from the top looking over part of the city and Stanley Park. We loved Stanley Park and would have spent more time walking through it if it hadn't been raining!

Us on the observation deck at the top :-)

It's True...Best Friends Really Do Start To Look Alike!

Riley and Matthew really are the best of friends! Yesterday, Riley didn't even move out of Matty's "U" when I set him on the floor, so Matty sat on Riley's paws :-)
Yesterday also saw a vacation from the "fake cough" as Matthew's primary form of communication. It had been going on for days - no babbling, just fake coughing, with the occassional fake sneeze. He was getting quite a kick out of himself! So yesterday he babbled away with lots of new sounds - I thought I may have heard a da, and a mama - but it was probably just wishful thinking. Alas, the incessant babbling was short lived as Matthew has been "clearing" his throat and making "grrr" noises most of the day. What a goon!! He gets so proud of himself when he makes a new sound!

A Lazy Weekend...

Not too much on the go this past weekend. But we are gearing up for lots of activity over the next couple of weeks. Lauren's parents are coming for Easter, Chad's parents are coming to visit next week, and Chad and I are planning a get-a-way for two to Vancouver for next weekend (after Easter)! Stay tuned :-)
