Gananoque

On Thursday we made the journey to Gananoque - the gateway to the Thousand Islands (in the St. Lawrence) as part of my quest to visit all the National Parks. We rented a cottage for a couple of nights and had a great time. Chad went fishing and caught a bass, but sadly no pike - we walked along the 1000 Island Parkway (above) - we visited Heart Island (pics below), and Lauren and I went to "Anne and Gilbert" at the Thousand Islands Playhouse :-)
Riley having his first swim in Ontario - life is good

Getting ready to boat to Heart Island where Bolt Castle is - to do this we will have to navigate through the thousand islands and into US waters without getting lost.

Castle construction was started at the turn of the 1900s, but after George Bolt's wife died suddenly in 1904 he immediately stopped construction and never returned to the island - very sad. The island is actually in New York - so this was our first trip to NY :-)

Words you never want to hear from your navigator while you are motor boating through 1000 Islands..."Hey guys, Heart Island isn't marked on the map"...so Paul, how have you been directing our adventure? Paul - "Well, Chad pointed in this general area..." Have no fear, we found Heart Island and made it there in about an hour.
We're here!!
My little bundle...slept in my arms most of the very bumpy boat ride to Heart Island...my arms are really sore today - no joke!

Our new home...I think we like it :-)
Paul and Lauren in the ballroom
Matthew just hanging out in the picnic area after his snack.Paul: " Ah...so that was buoy 226...yeah, we're &^%$"! We were just a tad off course to get back to the cottage - good thing we realized it when we did! Thankfully we got back on the right path and made it safely back with Matthew sleeping through most of the journey :-)
