Bring on the Table Food!

Yesterday I mashed up some baby carrots and gave them to Matthew to try. As you can see, he dug right in! Baby carrots were a big hit. I think I'm going to prepare "real" food for Matty this weekend for the upcoming week.
What a goon! He has started purposefully blinking at the camera - usually it is before the flash, but this time it was right in the middle of the flash!

My First Mother's Day!!

My first Mother's Day has been wonderful! I actually got a Mother's Day weekend!! Friday night we actually sat down and watched a movie - Freedom Writer's - and didn't fall asleep :-) We both really liked it and I would recommend it. Saturday morning I was presented with a card and inside it said to pack my bags, b/c I was going for 2 hours of relaxation at the spa at lunch time - yeah, lucky me. We packed up the entire family and drove to the spa. There was an off-leash park close to the spa and that's where the boys spent their time. I was told that Riley was really good and had so much fun!! The spa was great - I had the best massage ever (and I've had lots, went all the time when I was pregnant) and then had a manicure. We actually relaxed and watched another movie last night - Deja Vu (pretty good, but I always get so confused with time travel type movies). This morning I was presented with another card, jelly beans, and a scrapbooking magazine - wow! The best present was a kiss from my boy - he is the reason I get to have a Mother's Day weekend!! Thanks for a great weekend Chad, Matty, and Riley!!!
Here I am trying to get an on-camera kiss from Matthew, but he goes all goonie when he sees the camera. We went for a short Mother's Day walk - short b/c Chad went for a run during Matty's morning nap and got lost. He ended up running over 17 km and is pretty hard up right now - him and Matty are both sleeping...
After the stroller ride - what a happy boy!! Look closely and you can see his first tooth (on the bottom in the middle).

Earlier this week Matty was having a ball in his tent :-)

Speedy Dad

Chad ran in his first 10km race yesterday - here he is sporting his medal!

We're Getting There...

This weekend was Matthew's most promising attempt at crawling and of coarse it was in an effort to get closer to his best bud - Riley. If only Riley wouldn't cheat for Matty and move closer to him...

The tickle monster comes home and gets Matthew every night just before tub time :-)

Recent Pics...

Bon Voyage to uncle Paul - he left for Ghana on Saturday for the week (work related). He called yesterday to say that he arrived safe and sound.
Getting ready to go for a stroller ride with mom and aunt Lauren (and Riley of course). Matthew is also sporting a new sailor outfit from the parcel from Nan and Grampy that just arrived - thanks!

BBQing with Dad :-)

Happy Birthday Riley!

Our big baby turned four last Friday (April 27) - it's hard to believe how fast the time flies! Here is a picture of him on Father's Day 2003, a couple of weeks after we brought him home - what a cutie he was (and still is)!!!

The Power of Green!!

I did something a couple of weeks ago that I had never done before - I ordered something on-line right after I saw it advertized on TV - yes, it is true. I was watching Oprah's green show and on came a company that specializes in green cleaning products for your home. I had been meaning to start buying more enviro/kid/me friendly cleaning products for a while now - but really, who has time to sort through everything on the grocery shelves? Well, not only did the show mention the products, but if you wanted to try them you could order a complete home starter kit. And get this - just for being an Oprah viewer - you could get a discount by ordering online - I was hooked!

Our box arrived in a few days and this past weekend we tried it out. The universal cleaner comes in a bottle (super concentrated) and then you mix like 2 drops with a spray bottle (also provided in your kit) full of water and voila! you have it. I must that it was a treat to be able to be on the same house level as Chad as he cleaned the bathroom - in fact, I actually helped! Normally, the fumes give me a headache so he always does it himself (on second thought...maybe this wasn't such a good idea...). Mental note - if you can't stand to be around cleaning products b/c it gives you a headache even when you are a few rooms away...it is probably not good for you, your family, or the enviro.

Anyways, my verdit is that it cleaned well, did not give me a headache, and in the long run will save us lots of $$ b/c a few drops of the concentrated cleaner mixed with water, will last the Smith's forever! If you would like to cash in on this great deal (now the entire kit is still like $80, but will last forever...and comes with dish detergent, laundary detergent and other stuff...or you can just buy individual products) follow this link http://www2.oprah.com/tows/pastshows/200704/tows_past_20070420_b.jhtml and go to the Shaklee link. Let me know what you think - happy cleaning!!
